Uttarakhand Trip: Nainital

Hey there! fellow travel enthusiasts!

Last year, in October 2023, my college buddies and I embarked on a thrilling journey to Nainital, Uttarakhand. Let me tell you, it was four days packed with unforgettable memories and endless laughter. So, grab a cuppa, and let me take you through our adventure, day by day.

Day 0: Our journey kicked off with a train ride from Lucknow to Kathgodam, the nearest railway station to Nainital. From there, we hopped on a bus and finally reached our destination – Nainital.

Day 1: We snagged a hotel room with a dreamy lakeside view of Naini Lake. Pro tip: Offseason travel equals lower prices! After freshening up, we snagged a cab for a whirlwind tour of Nainital which covers eco cave garden , snow view point, himalayan darshan point, bada patthar, lovers point, suicide point, Sariyatal, we covered it all. Oh, and let’s not forget the adrenaline rush from go-karting! in the nearby GoKart Zone. At night, we strolled along Mall Road, indulging in delicious street foods.

Day 2: Our day began with a visit to Naina Devi Temple, followed by a trek along Camels Back View Trek. Trust me, the 3.5 km hike was worth every step for those breathtaking views. Evening brought us back to Mall Road, where we soaked in the enchanting sights of Naini Lake under the moonlight.

Day 3: We decided to explore beyond Nainital, renting scooties to cruise around Bhimtal, Sattal, and Naukuchiatal. Highlight? Kayaking in Bhimtal and a hearty lakeside lunch. As dusk settled, we returned and hit up the bustling Bhotia Market for some souvenir shopping.

Day 4: With heavy hearts, we bid adieu to Nainital and boarded our train back to Lucknow from Kathgodam.

And oh, the pictures we captured! I’m attaching some of them for you to drool over.

Here are a few suggestions for you all from my side:

  •  Offseason travel is a gem – cheaper rates and fewer crowds!
  • Hire a cab or rent bikes for convenience in exploring tourist spots.
  •  If time permits, visit the famous Kainchi Dham Temple nearby.
  •  Don’t leave without savoring the local delight, “Bal Mithai”.
  •  Three days are ample to experience the essence of Nainital.

I hope this experience will help you to plan your trips accordingly.
